Aerith Created Before Tifa in Original Final Fantasy VII

Initially, Aerith’s personality resembled Tifa’s, but the development team chose to split her traits between the two characters to avoid following traditional character formulas. Aerith’s design focused on making her stand out with her more pastel color palette and tied-up hair, contrasting with characters that incorporate darker colors in their designs like Cloud and Barrett. Tifa’s long hair, which was tied at the ends for easier animation, gave her a different look. The choice to create two heroines allowed the story to explore different character arcs and fates.
