Where to Find and How to Access The Pit in Diablo IV

In order to access The Pit, players will need to have done the following:

  • Reach World Tier IV.
  • Complete a 46+ Nightmare Dungeon

Once these prerequisites have been met, you will be able to access The Pit. Simply head to Cerrigar and initiate the quest “Pit of the Artificer,” which should automatically appear once you have done the previous two steps.

You can find the location circled below on the map. The object you will want to interact with is the Portal Activator, or the Artificer’s Obelisk.

The Pit is a great way to obtain materials for Masterworking, which you can read more about here, and for obtaining Stygian Stones. Concerning what The Pit is, it’s a series of levels players will need to run through while defeating powerful enemies to summon a super boss. You will need to beat The Pit in the required time, beating out the timer by defeating rare mobs, in order to receive the maximum amount of rewards.

This optional content functions similarly to the Greater Rifts in Diablo III. So if you enjoyed that content, The Pit is probably where you’ll spend most of your time. As it is an easy way to obtain currency, Masterworking materials, and even gear. It’s also a nice alternative to running Helltides once you’ve reached World Tier IV.

Diablo IV is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the Vessel of Hatred expansion release date is October 8, 2024.
