Can You Play Episode Aigis Without Beating Persona 3 Reload?

Persona 3 Reload’s Expansion Pass has finally come out with the DLC we’ve been waiting for: Episode Aigis. But can you play Episode Aigis – The Answer DLC without beating the base Persona 3 Reload experience? This is a question that has an intriguing answer that you might be surprised by.

Do You Need to Beat Persona 3 Reload to Play Episode Aigis?

Strangely enough, you don’t have to beat the entire base game to play Episode Aigis. In fact, you don’t even have to start a playthrough of the original title to check out its DLC. It is pretty much a standalone DLC storyline without any requirements to check it out.

Well, other than the requirement of owning the DLC like through the Expansion Pass. In fact, you could play it how I did and enjoy the DLC on a different platform than the base game if you want to. This is because you access The Answer through a separate menu option, similar to its original appearance in Persona 3 FES.

Should You Play Episode Aigis Without Completing P3R?

While you don’t have to complete or even play Persona 3 Reload before you can play Episode Aigis, this doesn’t mean you should go this route. In fact, I highly recommend at least beating the base game once before checking this out. This could be through this remake itself or a different version like Portable.

This is because Episode Aigis – The Answer takes place right after the end of the main story. It spoils the entire game, including some pretty surprising elements, so I don’t recommend picking it up first. You certainly will want to play through the entire Persona 3 storyline at least once to understand and fully enjoy the DLC.
