Where Is the Runaway Horse in Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

Before you can eventually start summoning a horse to ride in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, you first need to complete the sidequest “A Runaway Horse” at Hyrule Ranch. The missing animal is closer than you may think, though you’ll need to use some echoes to bring it home again.

Where do I find the runaway horse in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom?

So first, you need to actually reach Hyrule Ranch. This means deciding to fix the rift in Gerudo Desert first following assisting with the one in Suthorn Forest. Head west of Hyrule Castle, moving through the field. The ranch owner will explain they can’t lend out any horses until the missing one returns home. This is your cue to help.

Your hint is that the horse is west of Hyrule Ranch. It really is right nearby. Just head west until you see a small pond with an island in the center. Here are two screenshots of the map, which show the location of the ranch and the horse.

All you need is the Old Bed echo to get the horse home again. Drop two of them to the left to bridge the gap to the island. I included a third one, but in retrospect that was unnecessary. Once you’re on the island, press A when you’re next to the runaway horse to have Zelda hop on, and then ride over the bed bridge to escape. The horse automatically jumps when dashing.

Ride back to Hyrule Ranch. When you do, you can go to the NPC who owns the place to return the horse. You can now take one out riding whenever you’d like as your reward.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is available for the Nintendo Switch.
