How to Unlock Demi Fiend Return of the True Demon Quest in SMT V Vengeance

One of the coolest parts of the original Shin Megami Tensei V was the addition of the Demi Fiend from Nocturne as a crossover character. However, this quest was only paid DLC for players to purchase. So, what is the situation with the Return of the True Demon Demi Fiend quest in SMT V Vengeance?

Is Return of the True Demon a DLC Quest in SMT V?

First and foremost, this quest was originally DLC in the past. Fortunately for you, if you pick up this definitive edition, you will find that Return of the True Demon is not a DLC quest in SMT V Vengeance. It is fully baked into the game from the moment you pick it up, alongside much of the other DLC content and demons.

This is great news but also a bit confusing at the same time. This is because the Demi Fiend quest doesn’t start how it did before. With the original game, you had to purchase the DLC. After buying the bonus content, you talked with Sophia in the World of Shadows to start it. In SMT V, Return of the True Demon is not only free but now has a new method to start it, which I’ll break down below.

How to Start the Demi Fiend Quest in SMT V Vengeance

What is interesting about starting the Demi Fiend Return of the True Demon Quest in SMT V Vengeance is you have to wait a while to begin it. Unlike before, you can’t get the quest soon after beginning the game. You have to wait until you reach the Tokyo Diet Building in the Da’at Minato ward area.

This is pretty much the very end of the initial area, which can take nearly a dozen hours to reach if you do mostly everything. Once you get to the fast travel point outside of the Diet Building, you’ll get a notification. Talk with Sophia then in the World of Shadows at the fast travel point to receive the first Menorah. You can then head to near the start of the game for the first boss battle against Matador.

Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance is now available for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
