Are Japanese Voiceovers Available in SaGa: Emerald Beyond?

SaGa Emerald Beyond is the latest in the long-running Square Enix series, allowing players to play the game their way in terms of choices and even which protagonist to play as. Of course, some players may want to play SaGa Emerald Beyond with English voices, while others might prefer Japanese. Here’s what you need to know.

Can You Switch to Japanese Voices in SaGa Emerald Beyond?

Sadly, I have some unfortunate news for you when it comes to this new game in the SaGa series. Unfortunately, it is not possible to switch to the Japanese voiceovers in this game at this time. There is no update, DLC, or anything like that for players to download to change that at the time of writing this.

If you look into the menu in this game, you will find that there is no option to switch from the English voiceovers (or whatever language you prefer in your region) to Japanese or anything else. This is quite odd, especially since most Square Enix games these days have both English and Japanese options.

Voices Are Region-Locked in SaGa Emerald Beyond

Not only can you not switch to Japanese voices in SaGa Emerald Beyond, but it appears that the language options are region-locked in a way. For instance, in North America, English is the only option. It doesn’t matter if you are playing on mobile, console, or PC, either.

But what is strange is there’s workaround at this time, either. At least until a possible mod or option on PC. If you check out the game on the Japanese eShop, for example, it is also only available in Japanese there. So, be very careful where and how you buy your game, especially online. Thankfully, the English voiceover cast is decent in this game. Not the best but solid enough to carry it.
