How to Recruit ??? aka Lam in Eiyuden Chronicle

When you get to Daphan Village in Eiyuden Chronicle, a blonde woman named Lam whose name will only show as ??? won’t talk to you. However, the fact that she has a character portrait and unique character sprite suggest she’s a potential recruit. She is, but there’s a brief sidequest with another character tied to her.

How do I recruit ???, aka Lam, in Eiyuden Chronicle?

Editor’s Note: There will be spoilers regarding Lam in Eiyuden Chronicle below.

Lam is only available to add to your party after you’ve been to Hishahn and advanced the main story. You also need to recruit another potential ally in that own before you can approach her. Get Nowa to level 32, then recruit Riufan in Hishahn.

Once Riufan is on your side, teleport back to your base and head to Cassandra’s inn. Go to the tables on the right and speak with him. He’ll mention a possible recruit in Daphan Village and suggest the two of you go there. Add him to your party, then teleport to that town.

When you walk into town, Riufan will comment on the situation. Head to the northwest corner of town, between the rune shop and B’Baba’s house. When you speak to the blonde woman with the ???s in place of a name this time, she’ll actually talk with Riufan. However, the conversation won’t go anywhere.

Attempt to leave Daphan. Eiyuden Chronicle won’t let you, as Riufan will come to a realization about Lam that involves the ??? blonde woman. Go back to her and talk to her again. You’ll then be able to recruit her.

Is Lam good in Eiyuden Chronicle?

I think Lam is a lot more useful than Riufan, actually. She joins at level 20. She is a long-range unit, which means you can keep her in the back row. She has a Rune of Power already equipped. Also, she has a neat Channel Qi: Transform kill that offers a temporary damage and speed buff while also hitting one enemy. I think she’s fun!

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is available on the Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
