A teaser trailer featured a CGI montage of the boss fights that can be found in Palworld, before a reveal that the game was getting a PS5 release today. No new content was shown, however. It’s unknown if this will be a full release or if it’s still classified as an Early Access releases similar to the PC and Xbox versions.

The announcement of a PS5 version of Palworld was theorized after developers Pocketpair signed a deal with Sony. Palworld Entertainment is a joint venture between Pocketpair, Sony Music and Aniplex, seeking to expand the IP. In addition, the game’s community manager had hinted at a PS5 release of the game in a cryptic tweet in June 2024.

Meanwhile, Pocketpair is currently facing a patent lawsuit from Nintendo. While the details of the lawsuit are currently unknown, comparisons have been drawn between Palworld and various Pokemon designs since the game’s release. However, theories online suggest this may have more to do with a patent based on the Pokeball mechanics.

Palworld is out now in Early Access for PC and Xbox Series X, with a surprise PS5 release today.
