In Dragon’s Dogma 2, you need to complete the Spellbound quest to get the DD2 Sorcerer Maister skills Meteoron, Maelstrom, and Celestial Paen. This guide will explain how to unlock the Sorcerer Maister in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and how to get the hidden Celestial Paen skill for Mage.
Where to find DD2 Sorcerer Maister – location
The DD2 Sorcerer Maister can be found at Myrddin’s Home in Rest Town and Eini’s Home northeast of the Borderwatch Outpost in Dragon’s Dogma 2. However, you must complete the Spellbound quest, unlocked at Rest Town. Unfortunately, getting Meteoron, Maelstrom, and Celestial Paen is easier said than done. You can even get locked out of the Sorcerer Maister, and Mage Maister spells if you make the wrong moves. Don’t worry, though. We’ve got you covered!
Here are the steps to get DD2 Sorcerer Maister in Dragon’s Dogma 2:
- Obtain Courtly Attire in Dragon’s Dogma 2 in Vernworth.
- Travel to Rest Town and visit Myrddin’s Home while wearing the Courtly Attire.
- Speak to Myrddin inside his house to get the Spellbound Quest.
- Obtain the Let There Be Light Grimoire by climbing Myrddin’s balcony and stealing the book from his upstairs room.
- Obtain the Nation’s Death Knell Grimoire at the Ancient Battleground castle.
- Purchase the Fulminous Shield Grimoire from the Apothecary in Melve. If the town has moved, buy it from Dudley, the Wandering Merchant at the entrance of Melve.
- Obtain the Howling Blizzard Grimoire in the Waterfall Cave east of the Borderwatch Outpost.
- Get the Towering Earth Grimoire from the Caged Magistrate in The Gracious Hand’s Vaults.
- Visit Ibrahim’s Scrap Store in Rest Town and make a Forgery of all five Grimoire’s.
- Give the forged versions of Let There Be Light, Nation’s Death Knell, Fulminous Shield, Howling Blizzard, and Towering Earth to Myrddin.
- Myrddin will then give you the Sorcerer Maister Myrddin’s Chronicle, which teaches you the Maelstrom spell.
- Travel to Eini’s Home west of the Borderwatch Outpost (and north of Melve).
- Speak to Trysha inside the house, who will ask you to find her Grimoire’s to teach her magic.
- Give the real versions of Let There Be Light, Nation’s Death Knell, Fulminous Shield, Howling Blizzard, and Towering Earth to Trysha.
- Leave and travel to Melve. Use the Oxcart sign three times to move the week forward. Return a few days later to Eini’s Home, and stop Trysha from casting her spells. Jump on her using “R2” (PlayStation) or “RT” (Xbox).
- Head back to Melve again and use the Oxcart sign six times. After three days have passed, return to Eini’s Home one last time.
- Speak to Trysha, who has woken up, and she will give you the Sorcerer Maister Conjurer’s Jolting, which teaches you Meteoron.
- Speak to her grandma, Eini, to get the Mage Maister Enchanter’s Almanac to learn the Celestial Paen spell.

How to Get Maelstrom in Dragon’s Dogma 2
To get Maelstrom and Meteoron in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you need to start the Spellbound quest. The Sorcerer Maister storyline starts at Rest Town. The village can easily be reached using the West Vernworth Oxcart Station. Once at Rest Town, travel to the top of the hill and find Myrddin’s Home.
How to enter Myrddin’s Home in Dragon’s Dogma 2
You may have tried to enter Myrddin’s Home in Rest Town, only to be scolded and shooed away by the rude Sorcerer. That is because the magic user only allows “pristine” people into his home. To enter Myrddin’s Home in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you must equip the Courtly Attire.
Courtly Attire can be found inside Allard’s Estate east of Noble Quarter in Vernworth. Conversely, you can also get the expensive clothing as a reward from Sven by completing “The Ornate Box” quest. Once you have them equip the Courtly Attire, you can then approach Myrddin’s Home in Rest Town.
Instead of telling you to leave, Myrddin will now be impressed with your outfit and invite you inside his house. Speak to Myrddin inside of his home, and will give you the Spellbound quest. To complete this, you must travel around the map and find the five missing Grimoires.
Where to find Let There Be Light Grimoire location
The Let There Be Light Grimoire can be found upstairs in Myrddin’s Home in Rest Town. While this sounds easy at first, the Sorcerer will get angry and call the guards if you walk upstairs. As a result, there are two ways to get this item. The first method is to pick Myrddin up and carry him into Rest Town. After putting him down, sprint back up to his house and grab the Grimoire.
The second method only works if you are a Mage or Sorcerer. Use the Levitate Spell and climb the balcony of Myrddin’s Home. The Sorcerer will not realize you have snuck upstairs, and you can grab the Let There Be Light Grimoire off his desk. After getting it, hop back out the balcony and make your escape.
Where to find Nation’s Death Knell Grimoire location
The Nation’s Death Knell Grimoire can be found in the Ancient Battleground north of Rest Town. After you arrive at the village, trek on foot and enter the battleground’s gates. Upon entering, you will find a giant dragon and ogre battling each other. Ignore them and run past the battle. Look for the nearby castle and enter it.
Once inside the Castle, make your way through the area and climb up the stairs, where you will end up on the rampart wall. While walking along the rampart, you will find another ladder that lets you enter the other section of the castle where you can find the Nation’s Death Knell grimoire.
Where to find Fulminous Shield Grimoire location
The Fulminous Shield Grimoire can be purchased from the Apothecary in Melve. However, you may have already done a quest that has the entire village leaving to move into a new village in Harve. If that’s the case, you can find a Wandering Merchant named Dudley in the front entrance area of Melve.
Walk up to the front entrance of Melve and look for the Wandering Merchant named Dudley. After speaking to him, you can purchase the Fulminous Shield Grimoire for 5,000 Gold. However, if you haven’t completed the Melve quest that moves the city to a new location, the Grimoire can be bought at the Apothecary store.
Where to find Howling Blizzard Grimoire location
The Howling Blizzard Grimoire can be found in the Waterfall Cave east of the Borderwatch Outpost. The giant cavern location can be found in the game’s opening area. Find the river that leads into it, and follow it to find the cave’s entrance. Prepare to take on a lot of enemies, as this cave is pretty massive.
Make your way through the winding Waterfall Cave. You will eventually arrive at a purple-glowing room with a table full of books and a chest. You will then be attacked by a Lich skeleton boss, which you will need to defeat. After beating the phantom, you will get the Howling Blizzard Grimoire as a reward. Strangely, I also got a second copy of Nation’s Death Knell in this fight. However, I’m not sure if this is a random drop chance.
Where to find Towering Earth Grimoire location
Finally, Waldhar, the Caged Magistrate, gives you the Towering Earth Grimoire. If you have progressed through the main story, you should have already completed “The Caged Magistrate” quest, which involves freeing the NPC from the Vernworth Gaol. After the storyline, he will be moved to the Gracious Hand’s Vaults.
Travel to Vernworth, enter The Gracious Hand Vaults and speak to the Caged Magistrate. After talking to Waldhar while the Spellbound quest is active, he will automatically give you the Towering Earth Grimoire. This one is pretty simple unless you haven’t freed the Magistrate from Vernworth jail yet.
The final step is returning to Rest Town and visiting Ibrahim’s Scrap Shop. The store can be found directly behind the Inn and Vocation Guild. Walk up to the Scrap Store and make a forgery of each Grimoire. After you hand the book to him, go to the entrance of Rest Town and use the Oxcart sign three times in a row to “pass the time.” After three days, return to Ibrahim’s Scrap Store and pick up the forgery Grimoire. You will need to repeat this step five times.
This next step is important. Whatever you do, DO NOT give Myrddin the real copies of the Grimoires. Instead, give them the five forgery copies of each Grimoire. After you turn in the five fake Grimoires, he will reward you with the Sorcerer Maister “Myrddin’s Chronicle” which teaches you the Maelstrom spell.
How to get Meteoron in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Now that you’ve gotten Maelstrom, it’s time to head back to Northern Vermund where the Borderwatch Outpost is located. With the five real Grimoires in hand, travel Eini’s Home northwest from the Borderwatch Outpost. Once here, enter the little cottage and speak to the little girl named Trysha.
After you talk with Trysha, the new Spellbound quest will trigger, and she will ask you to find her five Grimoires. Thankfully, we’ve tracked these rare books down already. Give her the five real books, and she will ask you to visit her again in a few days. Head back to Melve and use the Oxcart sign three times in a row to pass the time.
When you return, Trysha will be using the Grimoires to launch spells into the forest. However, her magic will quickly get out of control and put everyone in danger. As you chase after her, she will keep disappearing in a cloud of smoke. Keep chasing her until she gets tired and starts breathing heavily. During this moment jump on top of her by using “R2” (PlayStation) or “RT” (Xbox).
After restraining Trysha, she will ask you to return in a few days as she needs to sleep. Again, head back to Melve and use the Oxcart to fast-forward time. Use the sign four times and then travel back to Eini’s House. Trysha will then wake up and give you the Sorcer Maister “Conjurer’s Jottings” item, which will teach you the Meteoron Spell.
How to get Celestial Paen in Dragon’s Dogma 2
This is where most people miss the Mage Maister in Dragon’s Dogma 2, as you actually get it in the Spellbound quest. After Trysha wakes up, do not leave the house. Instead, speak to her grandma Eini, who will thank you by giving you the Mage Maister “Enchanter’s Almanac” item, which teaches you the Celestial Paen spell.
Yep, that’s it. You get Celestial Paen in Dragon’s Dogma 2 by just speaking to Eini after completing the Spellbound quest. Simple, right? If done correctly, you can get Maelstrom, Meteoron, and Celestial Paen just by completing Spellbound. Pretty great deal if you ask me!
It needs to be stated again that you will fail the quest if you give Myrddin the real copies of the Grimoires. That is because Trysha will not accept the forgery version of the magic books. So, to get every spell, give Myrddin the Forgery Grimoires and give Trysha the real books.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
