How to fix Dragon’s Dogma 2 Arisens Shadow Bug

After progressing the main story in Vernworth, Captain Brandt will give you “The Arisen’s Shadow” quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. While walking around the Capital, you will notice a hooded man following you from a distance. However, many players may find the quest getting stuck when they catch up with Bermudo and talk to him, only to get a “hmph.” If that is you, you aren’t alone. The game doesn’t really explain how to “confront” in the game.

To confront Bermudo in Dragon’s Dogma 2 Arisens Shadow, you need to chase after the hooded man and jump on top of him. Yeah, the game actually has a “tackle” mechanic that lets you dive on top of a character and hold them down. Again, this isn’t really explained too well in the game’s tutorial. As a result, some players have thought the quest was bugged as they weren’t able to progress it.

Here are the steps on how to confront Bermudo in the Arisen’s Shadow quest:

  • Walk around Vernworth until you spot the Hooded man spying on you from a distance.
  • Use the game’s sprint button and start chasing after the man.
  • As you get closer to him, press “R2” (PlayStation) or “RT” (Xbox) to grab Bermudo and dive on top of him.
  • You will then “Confront Bermudo,” which will trigger a cutscene with dialogue.

Should you “Refuse” or “Demand Compensation” in Dragon’s Dogma 2 Arisens Shadow?

Ultimately, it doesn’t matter which choice you pick here, as the overall main story isn’t impacted too much. However, each choice leads to a drastically different conclusion to this storyline. Below, we will break down the consequences for each choice in the Arisen’s Shadow quest:

  • Refuse
    • Bermudo will immediately attack you, and you must kill or knock him out.
    • Captain Brandt will apprehend him, and you will get a new quest step in The Arisen’s Shadow.
    • You will not get a reward until you complete the full Arisen’s Shadow quest.
  • Demand Compensation
    • Bermudo will pay you 5,000 Gold and then run away.
    • You will also get 1,000 XP.

Although demanding compensation seems like the better option due to the reward, you should choose “Refuse” in the Arisen’s Shadow quest. Because Captain Brandt is able to interrogate Bermudo, you actually get an extra step to the quest, which reveals more dialogue and lore.
