In the Prey for the Pack quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you need to save Rodge from the pack of wolves that have taken him. This guide will explain where to find Rodge in the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Prey for the Pack quest and where you need to go in Rest Town to save the missing child.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 Prey for the Pack – Rodge Location
Upon arriving in Rest Town for the first time, you can pick up the “Prey for the Pack” quest after speaking to Morris. The distraught grandfather reveals that his grandson Rodge has been “taken by wolves” after going out to pick flowers. At the beginning of the quest, you are tasked with walking around Rest Town and speaking to NPCs to figure out the location of Rodge. However, we’ve got you covered, as we’ve already tracked down the missing child!
In the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Prey for the Pack quest, Rodge can be found in the Putrid Cave east of Rest Town. The way the quest is supposed to work is you have to speak to NPCs in the town to discover the boy’s location. However, for your convenience, we are going to post a map that shows the exact location of where to find Rodge in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
It should be noted that you may need to speak to the NPCs in Rest Town first before Rodge shows up in the Putrid Cave. So, if you follow the map above and he’s not inside the cave, then head back to Rest Town and follow the section below to trigger the quest’s progression.
How to complete Dragon’s Dogma 2 Prey for the Pack Guide
To start Prey for the Pack, you need to walk around Rest Town and find a specific set of NPCs that will give you a hint about Rodge’s location. Although this seems easy at first, the quest can become quite buggy. In my game, for example, one of the NPCs I needed to talk to never spawned because an Oxcart was blocking the entrance of the town.
All this to say, if you are having trouble advancing the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Prey for the Pack quest, you are not alone! It actually took me over an hour of running around before I could finally complete the quest. Below are the steps to find Rodge in Prey for the Pack:
- Speak to Morris at the top of Rest Town to trigger the Prey for the Pack Quest.
- Walk around Rest Town and look for the following NPCs:
- Timothy
- Jacint
- Alsa
- Rikhard
- After speaking to the group of NPCs, the game should have a marker on your map of the Rodge Location, which is the Putrid Cave.
- Travel to Putrid Cave and enter it. You should find a pack of wolves attacking Rodge.
- Dispatch the wolves as quickly as possible, and don’t let them attack Rodge or else he could die.
- After you kill the wolves, you need to escort Rodge back to Rest Town.
- Speak to Morris one last time to complete the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Prey for the Pack quest.
The trickiest step, by far, is finding the correct NPCs in Rest Town to talk to. Although the Prey for the Pack quest gives you a yellow circle of where to look, the NPCs you need to talk to might not be there. In my game, I had to leave Rest Town, return a day later, and even wait till night time before I finally talked to all the necessary NPCs.
One of the first NPCs you should look for is Timothy. The hat-wearing farmer can be found towards the entrance of Rest Town. Head towards the opening area where there are merchants and the oxcart. Timothy can be seen wearing a grey shirt and crossing his arms.
The second NPC you need to talk to is an old lady named Jacint. On the west side of Rest Town is a set of cottage houses that can be reached by taking a set of stairs down. You can find Jacint standing by her house door in the hillside residential area of Rest Town.
At this point in the quest, my Pawn actually “guided” me to a location where “flowers glow” at night. You may not get this in your quest. But in case you do, head to the location on your map and fight the skeleton boss fight. Following the battle, head back to Rest Town and continue looking for NPCs, as this isn’t where Rodge is located.
Strangely, a little girl named Alsa showed up in Rest Town a day later after I went to the location on the map above. However, her showing up might be related to time and not going to that battle. Either way, look for Alsa in Rest Town next. She will also show up at the front of the town near the Oxcarts.
Lastly, the final NPC that I had to talk to in the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Prey for the Pack quest was a soldier named Rikhard. In my game, he only showed up at night. But again, my game also seemed to be bugged due to an oxcart being stuck at the entrance of Rest Town. However, if he doesn’t show up for you, try returning to Rest Town during the night. I found him standing next to the Oxcart at the entrance.
After talking to Rikhard, my quest then updated and showed me the exact location of Rodge on my map. It’s now time to head east to Putrid Cave. You will know you’ve found the right spot because the entrance to the cavern is lit up by glowing flowers. Enter, and you will find Rodge being attacked by a pack of wolves. Quickly jump into battle and kill the creatures before they damage his HP bar.
Once the wolves are taken out, the final step of the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Prey for the Pack quest will be updated. You now need to “escort Rodge to Rest Town.” This part might be difficult if it’s already nighttime in your game. However, stick close by the boy’s side and quickly attack any enemies that approach. Make sure Rodge is also following behind you, as he can actually get lost and left behind. Continue traveling until you make it back to Rest Town.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 Prey for the Pack Rewards
So you may be wondering, what exactly do you get for completing this convoluted quest? Well, while you might not get any rare items, you do get quite a bit of EXP and Gold. After dropping Rodge back off at Rest Town, speak to Morris, who will then trigger the completion of the quest.
Here are the rewards you get for completing Dragon’s Dogma 2 Prey for the Pack:
- 4,000 XP
- 2 Miracle Roborant
- 11,000 Gold
As I stated above, Prey for the Pack can be a bit buggy. The biggest challenge is the NPC portion of the storyline. It took me hours to finally speak to them. Initially, I was only able to find two of the correct NPCs in Rest Town. I wasn’t able to confirm whether you can just run straight to Putrid Cave and find Rodge.
This might be worth a shot, given how frustrating this quest is. But if Rodge is not in the cave, then you will need to head back to Rest Town and look for the required NPCs. If you have to, you might want to try visiting another town like Vernworth. Or sleeping in at an Inn to progress time. Just keep returning to Rest Town until you have spoken to all the NPCs.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
