Exclamation Points in Dragon’s Dogma 2 Map Explained

The answer to this is a little more complicated than you may think. Basically, when you see a ! or exclamation point on your map, it means that there is a point of interest nearby. This could mean a secret, a treasure chest, a ladder, a readable document, a Seeker’s Token, or literally anything else.

While this might sound obvious on the surface, players will quickly notice that the map marker will sometimes stay on your screen even after you think you’ve searched the entire area completely. This is because the exclamation point in Dragon’s Dogma 2 will not go away until you have discovered the exact secret concerning the point of interest, which can, again, vary.

For example, while traveling through Vern, I came across a few exclamation points and chose to investigate them. One was a note talking about some going-ons in another village, one was a Seeker’s Token, and another was a destroyed ox cart. Again, there will never be a clear answer as to what these mean. In Bakbattahl, most of the exclamation points were posters plastered on the city walls from which I could glean some in-game lore. In some cases, engaging with these markers can be useful.

After all, if it nets you a Seeker’s Token, it gets you closer to obtaining rewards unique to their acquisition. Overall, it’s good to check these points out. And even if you don’t figure out what they immediately do or why it’s been marked on the map, you can always return to it later to see if you can figure out just why the developers want you to pay attention to this specific location. However, if an exclamation mark isn’t going away, then that means you haven’t found the specific secret the game is highlighting.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.
