Where to find Carrot Seeds in Stardew Valley

Carrots are quite different from the other crops you might be used to in this game, outside of the fact you need to first get carrot seeds and grow them before you can obtain this vegetable. The key difference is you can’t buy carrot seeds (or the carrots themselves) from any vendor in the game, unlike most crops. There are a few different ways to acquire carrot seeds at this time:

  • Looting the seeds from the mines, such as breaking open boxes.
  • Digging up worm spots
  • The new prize machine in Lewis’ house

The prize machine is by far one of the most enjoyable and interesting ways to get carrot seeds. For this one, you’ll need to complete the various quests on the bulletin board in town to earn prize tickets to use in hopes of earning some carrot seeds.

What to use Carrots for in Stardew Valley

Players can plant the carrot seeds during the Spring, and they will grow into carrots in three days. This is decently fast for a crop in Stardew Valley. The base version of the carrots sells for 35 gold each but goes all the way up to 70 gold for the highest quality. This isn’t a whole lot, but you can also eat them for a decent bit of health and stamina.

The other main use for carrots is for the Sewing Machine. You can craft a carrot and a piece of cloth together to make a dyeable Shirt and Belt item. In addition, if you mix carrot with any dyeable item in the Sewing Machine, it will turn an orange color.

Stardew Valley 1.6 is now available on PC. The update is set to be released on Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S at a later date.
