How to camp in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Camping is an integral part of Dragon’s Dogma 2, for several reasons. Not only will it allow you to provide beneficial buffs to both you and your Pawns, but it is an easy way to restore health and stamina. Setting up camp is a relatively easy affair, all you need is a Camping Kit, which the game will provide when you arrive at your first camp.

After you have escaped the mines, just follow the road, and you will see a Camping Kit next to a smoldering fire. Approach it to use your Camping Kit to set up camp. And it’s that easy! However, should you miss grabbing this Camping Kit, the next one you can find is in Vernworth at one of the item sellers in the town square. You can pick up the basic camping kit here, but better camping kits will become available as you discover new cities or even explore them since they can be found in the wild.

That said, in order to make the most out of camping you will need some kind of item to cook. This includes any kind of Scrag of Beast, or just a slab of meat. You cannot cook fish, vegetables, or fruit, so in order to eat you will need to acquire any kind of meat. Depending on the meat, you will receive various beneficial effects.

Where to find Camping Kit in Dragon’s Dogma 2

As mentioned above, you can purchase a Camping Kit at the start of the game by visiting the Item Vendor in Vernworth. However, if you want to save some coin, the game actually gives you a free Camping Kit following the game’s opening tutorial. After you create your character and wake up in the Borderwatch Outpost, you can find the camping item on the trail leading to Vernworth.

I also suggest camping as often as you can to avoid traveling at night, as camping spots are aplenty in Dragon’s Dogma 2. You can locate a camping spot by finding a smoldering fire, which is designated with a campfire icon on your mini-map (as pictured in the map above).

Unfortunately, you can’t set up camp just anywhere in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Only in specific locations. This allows you to basically skip traveling at night, which is one of the most dangerous things you can do at the game. So don’t be afraid to use those resources, since your meat will rot in your inventory if not used.
