How to Recruit Nina and Bryce in Unicorn Overlord

You can recruit Nina and Bryce, two members of the Rock Rat bandits, in Unicorn Overlord. However, while one joins in Cornia, the other won’t be added to your crew until you get to Bastorias.

How do I recruit Nina in Unicorn Overlord?

This is a very straightforward sort of fight that comes up in Cornia before you reach the Main Quest “The Priestess, Abducted.” “Uprooting the Rock Rats” is a Side Quest that takes place at La Criselle Town. As it is early on, it isn’t too tough. However, getting to recruit Nina means using the temporary army member Mille, her sister, to talk to her during this Unicorn Overlord fight. 

Since you’ll need to use Mille’s Heavy Swing or Barrier Breaker Leader Effect to clear the barricades near Tiche Donne Town, which Nina is holding for the Rock Rats, it isn’t too difficult to reunite the siblings. Also, Mille is pretty strong on her own, so she’ll survive the push with a little support.

Nina won’t immediately join upon talking to Mille or being beaten by the group. However, if you had the sisters speak during the fight, then after you beat the mission Bryce will “fire” Nina from the group. She’ll then show up to talk to all of you and ask to join. Have Alain “accept her offer,” and she’ll become a part of the Liberation Army.

For completing the quest, you’ll get a Recruit’s Handaxe, a Barricade Kit, a Thieves insignia, and Nina will join your army. 

How do I recruit Bryce in Unicorn Overlord? 

You don’t get to bring Bryce, leader of the group, over to your side in Unicorn Overlord as a recruit until you reach the Liberation mission in Bastorias called “The Fortified City of Solvaquad.” As you might guess from the name, Gordon and the other Rock Rat members decided to retire and settle in the abandoned town. However, as this is a hostile situation going in, you’ll first need to take this town to get a chance to add him to your army.

This is a fairly standard and typical liberation mission. Bryce is an armored unit, so someone with magic will be helpful in piercing through his defenses. You can’t talk to him during the fight, but if Nina is with you there will be a scripted event before the battle starts that involves her talking to Bryce.

Win, and you’ll get a chance to talk to Bryce. Nina was a part of my army when I undertook this mission, and she appeared in this story segment. This could mean she is a required element for Bryce’s recruitment process, so make sure you added her to your army earlier. You get the option to recruit or execute him after she weighs in on the situation. While initially Bryce will turn Alain down, Alain will convince him and and Bryce will join.

For completing this quest, you get 16 Honors, a Galette, and the Rock Rats key item.
