There are certain landmarks you’ll find around Fevrith in Unicorn Overlord that typically require a certain NPC to access, and the Stone Circles are tied to Ithilion. However, you don’t get to start reaping the rewards of them until you recruit him in Elheim.
How do I recruit Ithilion in Unicorn Overlord?
Ithilion is tied to a Side Quest in Unicorn Overlord called “The Elven Knight.” It’s a bit of a ways into Elheim, as it is down the road from Ysveda Harbor in Elheim. (This is also past Yaniss, though you need to head south toward Ysveda and along that road down the coast.)
Rather than seeing a battle map icon immediately, you need to talk to the band of people along the road clustered together. They’re all outside of Simtukka town. You need to speak to the Zenoiran Soldier, then the Simtukka mayor and his daughter Elina, then the soldier again to learn about Ithilion. Rosalinde mentions she knows him!
Once this happens, you’ll get the icon for the “The Elven Knight.” Ithilion will be a green NPC unit on the map around the middle, surrounded by enemies. Despite the event text suggesting he’s wounded, his health is full and he has soldiers with him. You need to send Rosalinde to talk to him to recruit him, then defeat the enemy commander to get him on your side. My recommendation is to put Rosalinde in a party with a cavalry unit, a strong fighter, and a cleric. Deploy a unit that has a character that knows Hastened Call or Hastened Call II, like Fran, and cast that at the outset. Send the two of them off to Ithilion, while deploying another unit to guard your base so it isn’t captured.
Winning the fight gets you Ithilion, a Greatwood Sword, a Camping Set (M), and the Town Watch items. Ithilion is an Elven Fencer who arrives with a Greatsword and Bronze Bangle
What do Stone Circles do in Unicorn Overlord?
Basically, they’re a way to get a resource. Investigating one once you’ve recruited Ithilion nets you a piece of Star Iron. You can then use those in Bastorias at five statues to get weapons. These Stone Circles can be found throughout countries, so stopping at them to collect Star Iron for when you get to Bastorias is quite helpful.
Unicorn Overlord is available for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
