How do I play Nightingale with my friends?

Multiplayer is available almost immediately. However, you will need to beat the Byway Realms Tutorial. This is done after you complete the Swamp Biome and are able to generate your own Realm. This will happen when Puck will ask which Biome you prefer, which will then see you go to a gate to create your own “world.”

Once you have generated your world, open your menu. From there, navigate to the “Party & Social” tab. This is how you will invite players into your Realm.

There are a few ways to invite friends into your Realm. This can either be done through your Steam friend list, assuming you are using Steam. However, the best way to invite a player into your Realm is through their individual Player Name. This is generated when you make your character and is unique to the character you are logged in as. You can find this on the righthand side of the “Party & Social” tab when it is open.

Once you have received a code or given out your friend code to your friend, you can input that into the “Find Players” section to join or invite them. After that invite has sent out, you can then be invited or invite them to your Realm through the “Party & Social” tab. It seems like a lot, but in practice it’s all very simple!

How many players can join my Nightingale multiplayer session?

As pointed out on the official site, a total of six players can play at the same time. What makes Nightingale so great is that the host of the Realm does not need to be online for you to access the Realm. That means you can continue to build, explore, craft, and more while the original party leader is offline, so long as you were loaded into their Realm when you logged out.

You don’t have to play with others, though. The game can be also played entirely alone, if someone prefers that experience. However, the title is currently online-only. That will change though, as an offline mode is being put together for people who want to go through single-player.

Nightingale is available in Steam Early Access on PCs.
