Soa is the Best Character for Evasive Play

This K-pop star’s love of dance makes her one of the best characters in Foamstars for movement. Her run speed is quick and her weapon fires has a quick fire rate. However the key thing that makes her so evasive is her L1 Skill, Bubble Step. This is a convenient get-out move that allows her to jump in whatever direction suits, leaving a barrage of shots in her wake. This move can even be used mid-jump, effectively giving her a double jump other characters lack.

Her R1 Skill, Spiky Beat, works well with her evasive style too, as it can be thrown out as she’s ducking between cover, putting pressure on opponents. Her Superstar Skill, Gotta Crush, is also best used evasively, as the shield will break after taking sustained damage, but if you can sneak up on opponents with it, it can be devastating.

Agito is the Best Character for Up-Close Pressure

Agito is all about getting up close to his opponent. His shotgun is slow, but creates a wall of projectiles in front of him that also causes significant damage. He also has a minor evasive move in his R1 skill, Storm Shot 2EZ, that throws out a shuriken that can cause an explosion.

His L1 Skill and Superstar Skill are where his pressure game excels though. Deep Blue Gank allows Agito to swim through foam unseen, where can jump out and do some damage on exit. Meanwhile, THX GG sees him accompanied by his shark buddy Kirimaru, who adds to the pressure.

Tonix is the Best Character for Defense

Tonix is an inventor whose gadgets are best used on the back line for a defensive playstyle. Her L1 Skill, Ms Fizzy Turret III, is the obvious way to set up defense, as this turret keeps firing independently. In addition, her rifle allows a long-range barrage or an explosive shot if held, both of which are effective at keeping opponents away.

Her R1 skill, Mr Bouncy Bubble, is one of her key tools for keeping opponents away, as this explosive device gives chase and spreads a lot of foam when it detonates. The resulting explosion creates a mound of foam that’s easy to hide behind. Her Superstar Skill, King Blaster XIII, adds to the defense as it’s a giant homing mortar that pushes opponents away even more.

Jet Justice is the Best Character for Huge Damage

As the burly superhero of Foamstars, Jet Justice is the best option for anyone who favors tank characters. His standard weapon fires large projectiles in a wide spread. However, his two basic Skills can be combined to devastating effect. His R1 Skill, Jet Vacuum Sphere, can pull in opponents into a small area. He can then unleash his L1 Skill, Cosmic Dive, into that area to cause a big AoE splash.

His tank abilities are enhanced further with his Superstar Skill, which erects a shield in an area that protects him and his teammates from damage. It also has the bonus of recharging other Skills faster, providing a huge boon to the team.

Penny Gwyn is the Best Character for Sniping

Penny is a soldier who uses a range of skills to do damage from afar. She uses an assault rifle with a long range to pile on pressure from afar. Her L1 Skill, Penguin Squad, can build on this with a fast burst that can be steered if opponents try to dodge away.

Her R1 Skill, Toboggan Bomb, adds a long-distance explosive option to Penny’s options too. She will send out her penguin pal to skate forwards, detonating a bomb after a short time of travel. Her Superstar Skill, Emperor March, is a bigger version of this. Both add to her attempts to take you out before you can get to her.

Rave Breaker is Best Character for Sneaky Players

Foamstars describes Rave Breaker as Trickster because he is one of the best characters for causing trouble for opponents in unexpected ways. He can create a lot of foam in one place quickly with his hose weapon, allowing him to create walls with ease. In addition, he can use this foam to mess with opponents in two different ways.

His L1 Skill, Home in the Foam, allows him to move around in the foam, hiding from opponents and pouncing when he gets close. Meanwhile, his R1 Skill, Decontamination, can catch out opponents as it’s a mine that will detonate if an opponent is close. While it’s visible when placed on the ground normally, it will bury itself in any team foam placed near it, waiting to trigger if an opponent walks close.

The Baristador is the Best Character for Foam Coverage

The Baristador is only available when you reach Player Level 3, but the amount of foam coverage he creates makes it clear why he needs to be earned. His hose has a wide spread and a long range, allowing him to coat the arena in his team’s foam quickly.

On top of that, his R1 Skill, Bitter Drip, can instantly create a wall of foam to hide behind, while his L1 Skill, Super City Roast, spreads foam for a short time before exploding into a column. His Superstar Skill enhances this further, creating a huge AoE blast that leaves a large mound of foam behind.

Foamstars is out now for PS5.
