In Honkai: Star Rail, characters of the Imaginary Type specialize in Imprisoning the enemy, which can greatly benefit their allies. This guide will break down all the Imaginary characters in the game, as well as explain which ones you should invest in.
The Benefits of an Imaginary Character
As mentioned earlier, the Imaginary Type can Imprison enemies after they inflict a Weakness Break. Imprisonment delays their action and reduces their SPD, which is very useful against difficult enemies or in timed challenge modes. The downside to Imaginary is that they do not deal a lot of damage when they inflict a Weakness Break. They only have a multiplier of 0.5, compared to most other Types that have at least a 1.
All of the Imaginary Characters in Honkai: Star Rail
- Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae (5-star Destruction)
- Dr. Ratio (5-star Hunt)
- Luocha (5-star Abundance)
- Welt (5-star Nihility)
- Yukong (4-star Harmony)
Best Imaginary Characters in Honkai: Star Rail
Because there aren’t a lot of Imaginary characters in the game yet, you won’t go wrong no matter which character you decide to invest in. However, if you’re thinking of the future when there will be as many Imaginary characters as, say, Physical or Fire, you should try putting your resources to building Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae, Luocha, and Yukong.
Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae is one of the best attackers in the game. His major downside is that he eats through your SP, which can limit who you run him with. However, he is equally good against solo enemies or a group, and you can recover his Energy very quickly with his Enhanced Basic. I do not tend to recommend pulling for attackers because they can be somewhat interchangeable. However, Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae’s potential makes him very useful in all sorts of content.
Luocha is one of the best healers in the game because he can passively heal the entire party when they deal damage to the enemy. He can also erase buffs from enemies with his Ultimate, which is very useful against powerful foes or Mara-Struck. You can fit Luocha into virtually any team too.
Yukong is a little difficult to use and set up because of how quickly she can go through her stacks, which makes her an SP hog compared to more SP-friendly support characters like Tingyun or Ruan Mei. However, she can double as a sub-DPS and she can passively buff other Imaginary characters with her mere presence. With her Skill and her Ultimate, she is able to massively boost her allies’ ATK, Crit Rate, and Crit DMG. If you put in the time to SPD tune her and learn how to budget your SP, she can really buff the overall damage of your party.
Honkai: Star Rail is readily available on the PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices.
