Things begin by showing Midgar, the setting of the first game. It shows how Mako is used to power the metropolis. Then, it shifts to show Avalanche, with Barret, Cloud, and Tifa working with them, to take down the Mako Reactors and fight back during the environmental crisis. Cloud meets Aerith as a result of this, as well as gets a Shinra target on his back. It then fast forwards to the dropping of the Sector 7 Pillar, destruction of a part of the city, Aerith’s abduction, and return of Sephiroth.
