You’ll face a boss fight at the end of every run in No Return. There are six possible encounters, and most are based on actual encounters in the game. However, some are slightly modified to fit the format of the rouge-like mode better. Defeating the boss is the only way to win a run in No Return successfully.

The bosses are fought in order and will not change on subsequent runs until they are defeated and the next unlocked.

The No Return boss order is as follows:

  1. Arcade Bloater
  2. Theater Infestation
  3. Rattler Captain
  4. Garage Bloater
  5. Seraphite Elite
  6. Rat King

Additionally, once you have defeated every boss in that order at least once, you unlock randomization. This means each run from that point will give you a random boss at the end. However, creating custom runs and selecting which boss you want is still possible.

How to beat No Return bosses

You can pretty much divide the boss fights into two separate categories: infected and human. The human fights, Rattler Captain and Seraphite Elite are essentially just a little busier regular encounters. I would handle these the same way you do any human encounters throughout the run. Just be mindful of a couple of the elite-tier enemies and, make sure you stocked up on ammo and resources.

The rest of the bosses in The Last of Us Part II Remastered No Return are infected. It’s actually jarring how much harder the infected bosses are, but they’re not impossible by any means. The issue with infected is they can absolutely overwhelm you, especially since all the infected fights have limited opportunity for stealth.

You pretty much have to go crazy on the offense to take down the infected bosses. You’ll want as much raw firepower as possible. Molotov’s and pipe bombs work great. Just keep your distance while keeping the pressure on, and you should bring them down. Remember, you should save as much explosive power for these bosses if you see an infected boss on your board.
