Because of the pay-to-win nature of gacha games, rerolling to start your account with as strong a team as possible is not uncommon. For those who wish to reroll their account in Honkai: Star Rail for a head’s start, here is how you can go about it.
How do I reroll in Honkai: Star Rail?
In order to re-roll in Honkai: Star Rail, you will obviously need multiple e-mail accounts. There are many ways to make accounts en masse, and you can also use aliases to do this. You should make sure you have some way for HoYoVerse to get e-mails to your main account though, since you might need it to reset your password.
Once you start the game, you simply need to play until you finish the Prologue. At this point, you will have around 20 pulls that you can use. If you don’t get the character that you want, or a 5-star, in those pulls, you can simply exit the game and make a fresh account to try again. If you don’t mind spending more time per account, you can also play until Trailblaze Level 15. This will give you the requisite amount of Stellar Jades to put into the Departure Warp, which will give you a guaranteed 5-star in 50 pulls.
How long does it take to reroll in Honkai: Star Rail?
I found it can take 30 to 40 minutes per reroll if you only want the 20 pulls after the Prologue. If you play an account all the way to Trailblaze Level 15, it can take around 2 hours. So it’s definitely a bit of a time investment. If you’re especially unlucky or picky, the process can even take days.
In my personal opinion, it is not worth it to reroll in Honkai: Star Rail unless you have some way to automate the process. You cannot skip any cutscenes and the 5-star pull rate is so low that it could take literal days. Yes, you can get a guaranteed 5-star at Trailblaze Level 15, which might tempt you into rerolling. However, you can actually choose a permanent 5-star after 200 pulls on the standard banner. So you can also just put your time and in-game currency towards that.
Who are the best characters to reroll for in Honkai: Star Rail?
All right, so now that you know how to reroll in Honkai: Star Rail, when should you stop? If you’re rerolling after 20 pulls, then just stop when you get a 5-star. Any 5-star in the game, whether a permanent or a limited one, is really good. If you’re going to go all the way to Trailblaze Level 15 to get your guaranteed 5-star, then you might want to be more picky. As a note, this only applies for those on the standard banner. If you specifically want a limited 5-star like Seele or Luocha, then don’t waste your time with Trailblaze Level 15.
The best 5-star characters are:
- Bailu
While everyone gets Natasha as a free healer, Bailu is far better because she has the chance to heal multiple allies at once. As of the time of writing, Bailu is still the only character who can resurrect fallen allies. So this makes her a really great character to have, especially in the early game when you won’t have built characters. - Bronya
Bronya is a fantastic support unit. She can increase how much damage your character does, as well as give select characters more turns. She can fit onto almost any team barring a DoT-oriented one. - Welt
Welt is a good character not only because he can work as both a main or a sub-DPS, but also because of his ability to debuff enemies. Not only can he slow them down to give you more turns, but he can also help your attackers deal more damage. This makes him far less situational than Clara or Yanqing.
4-star characters you should keep are:
- Pela
Pela’s great in the same way that Welt is. She is able to reduce DEF, which helps you to deal more damage, and she can passively increase your team’s Effect Hit Rate as well. Pela is also one of the few permanent characters who can remove a buff from an enemy, which makes her very generally useful. - Tingyun
Tingyun is, like Bronya, a staple of any hyper carry team. She is a lot less situational than Bronya because you can also put her on a DoT team. Unlike Bronya though, Tingyun can only buff a single character. But in the early stages of the game, that’s not going to be an issue. - Xueyi
While Sushang ruled the meta as the best 4-star to get while rerolling, it’s Xueyi’s time now. Xueyi is a powerful attacker who can also reduce enemy Toughness even without a Quantum Weakness. The only thing is that building her is not as straightforward as building Sushang.
