Grand Theft Auto VI is likely to feature a fast soundscape, much like each soundtrack for the previous entries. Let’s break down our top 12 songs that we think need to be in GTA 6 soundtrack.

12 Songs we’d love to see in the GTA 6 Soundtrack

So far, the only hint we have at any music in the Grand Theft Auto VI is the late Tom Petty’s “Love is a Long Road,” which is used in the trailer. It’s a fitting choice since Petty is from Florida, the real world inspiration for Vice City.

A good Grand Theft Auto soundtrack is diverse in terms of genres and even time periods sampled. They also always have a few tracks the tie into the feel or vibe of the game and its themes. My list and suggestions attemp to keep with that mentality. But keep in mind that these are just opinions, so you may have some wildly differing opinions about what we should see. Still, let’s look at some songs that could be a good fit for the Grand Theft Auto VI soundtrack.

Welcome to the Jungle” – Guns N’ Roses

Ok, yeah, this was in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. However, you cannot tell me that the trailer isn’t just an embodiment of what that songs about. Plus it’s a classic, so no one will care it was already in San Andreas.

Black Magic Woman” – Carlos Santana

I think this is a solid pick. Santana just feels like they belong on this soundtrack. “Black Magic Woman” just has the right amount of sizzle to make it’s way into a story mission too.

m.A.A.d city” – Kendrick Lamar

I’ve always felt like this song just felt like Grand Theft Auto music, and I mean that in the best way. I bet some Kendrick Lamar song is going to be on that soundtrack, but this is my vote for the one that should make it into the title. Imagine driving around Vice City at night blasting this.

A Pirate Looks at Forty” – Jimmy Buffett

This is my pick that might need some explanation. I think if you’re diving into a place like Vice City, you need a song about the kind of life people live over time in a place like this. I think a thoughtful meditation on aging after a life hard lived is perfect for a game like Grand Theft Auto.

Smoke on the Water” – Deep Purple

It’s a song about a casino burning. It’s a great “driving around” song. There’s plenty of water in Vice City. It lends itself to the mix. Plus, one of the early early leaks of the game had the song in it. Maybe that’s a good sign?

Blockbuster Night, Pt. 2″ – Run the Jewels

There’s going to be a Run the Jewels song in Grand Theft Auto VI. I don’t see any way around that fact, so really this could be: “Any RTJ song.” Actually, it’s entirely possible Rockstar Games has them write a song for the game like CD Projekt Red did for Cyberpunk 2077.

Panama” – Van Halen

I think, given the trailer, “Panama” just fits what’s happening in Vice City. The idea of blasting panama while riding your big bike down to the beach haunts me. Why can’t it be 2025 already?

03 Bonnie & Clyde” – JAY-Z ft. Beyonce

This is another song that just feels right. I can definitely see them playing up the Bonnie and Clyde angle in the main game, due to the main characters. I also have some theories on how that will go, but I’ll keep those to myself for now.

Broken Wings” – Mr. Mister

Do it for the Vice City reference. Rockstar Games has to do it for the Vice City Reference.

Blinding Lights” – The Weeknd

One of the most popular songs in the last few years, The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” is genuinely good and has a throwback 80s vibe. Yeah, this was almost custom made for a GTA 6 soundtrack.

Guillotine” – Death Grips

This is another song that just feels like a Grand Theft Auto track. I think it seems like the kind of song you can gun battle to or fly off a ramp at 100mph.

Free Bird” – Lynard Skynard

Lynard Skynard are also from Florida. This just feels like the perfect song to use. Imagine this coming up during a story mission. Yes, Rockstar Games used it before, but I mean it’s “Free Bird.”

Grand Theft Auto VI will release for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S sometime in 2025.
