8BitMods PlayStation Memory Card Adaptor Can Connect to WiFi

8BitMods announced MemCard Pro, a new PlayStation memory card adapter that offers support for WiFi and has an OLED screen. People will be able to insert a microSD card, with support for sizes up to 1TB, and use it to save all of their games. It will be out on March 7, 2021 and costs $69.07.

Here’s how it works. Players place a microSD card into MemCard Pro’s slot. The PlayStation memory card adapter will then make and maintain virtual memory card. The official conversion rate is 8,192 memory cards for 1GB. Its OLED display lets you see which card is currently in use. Which you can customize, as it connects to WiFi to offer a web user interface that lets you see you have saved. You can then use buttons on the card itself to swap.

The official product page also went over some possible features that are being considered. While none are guaranteed, 8BitMods is exploring additional WiFi-related and backup options. For example, it mentions the possibility of using the WebUI and WiFi to manage data on it. It also suggests that people might be able to send their save files to friends. One possible option, which is being explored and is not guaranteed, is the ability to “download saves and memory cards directly to your MemCard Pro from a URL.”

The MemCard Pro is in development and has a March 7, 2021 ship date. Pre-orders are open, and it is available in clear or translucent black colors.
