Sega has issued a release date for another entry in its 3D Classics line of remastered ports. The Nintendo 3DS will see 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on October 8. The game will be an eShop exclusive in North America, only available via download.

3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is notable as it is one of the 3D Classics game with optional multiplayer. If two people have the game, they can cooperate to get through the adventure, with one person playing as an invincible version of Tails to assist the other playing as Sonic. They could also take part in Match Play, where both people race one another through a level with split screen. Both options are only for local multiplayer.  This is in addition to stereoscopic 3D, the ability to save at any time, and an unlockable Super Sonic mode.

A price has not been announced for 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2. However, 3D Sonic the Hedgehog debuted at $5.99 when it was released on the Nintendo 3DS in December 2015, and 3D Gunstar Heroes launched at that same price point in August.
