While the Final Fantasy announcements during the X019 Xbox Inside presentation had to do with the 10 entries that will appear on Xbox Game Pass, another was mentioned during an earlier press event. Apparently a Final Fantasy XIV Xbox One version is in the works. [Thanks, The Verge!]
During the X019 press presentation, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer discussed the possibility of a Final Fantasy XIV Xbox One release. His exact quote when discussing the MMORPG was, “I wanted you to know, rest assured that we will be bringing that game to Xbox. We have a great relationship with [Naoki] Yoshida-san and we’re working through what it means to bring [to Xbox] a cross-platform MMO that they’ve run for years.”
Back at gamescom 2016, the possibility of a Final Fantasy XIV Xbox One version was discussed. At that time, a version of the game was described as challenging, even though it was being considered. In a June 2019 interview with WCCFTech, cross-play was mentioned as an issue when it came to the MMO heading to that platform.
Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PlayStation 4 and PC.
