Persona 5 Royal is hours away from release in Japan and this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine shared last-minute details, including more info on the Confidants, and a streaming restriction update. [Thanks, Ryokutya2089.]

  • Development on Persona 5 Royal started before Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight.

  • The developers say you might want to forget some of the strategies used in the original Persona 5, as what may have worked in Persona 5 might not work the same in Persona 5 Royal.

  • If you want to max out all Confidants on your first run, it is recommended to consider responding to phone calls.

  • There are Confidant Coops that won’t progress after the third semester. (They’ll have omen signs.)

  • You can now give gifts to male Confidants. Previously in Persona 5 you could only gift female Confidants.

  • At areas that allow you to take cover,  you’ll get to pass through even when there are enemies on the spot.

  • PS4 Share function support guidelines have been extended to the in-game month of December. In Persona 5 players were asked to refrain from streaming or posting videos past November 19 in-game (originally July 7). Persona 5 Royal extends it to sometime in December.

Persona 5 Royal releases for PlayStation 4 in Japan on October 31, 2019. Check our previous report to read more about Akechi’s Confidant, total playtime, and more from the developers. You can also check here for a look at an exclusive PS4 theme from the Persona Magazine #2019 Royal issue.
