Following the departure of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios boss Shawn Layden, another big name stepped down in Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia President Atsushi Morita. [Thanks, @mochi_wsj.]

Atsushi Morita, who was the President of Sony Interactive Japan Asia and the director of Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan has retired from the Sony group due to age according to the press release.

While his position as director of the Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan unit will be replaced SIE CFO Kazuhiko Takeda, the replacement for his position as president of Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia has yet to be decided.

Do keep in mind that this isn’t some kind of shakeup from above over at Sony or anything like that, as October 1 marks the start of the second fiscal half or 3rd quarter for most Japanese companies and it’s common practice to see such personnel announcements from big companies around this time.
