PlayStation Japan brought out two unlikely legends to check out Gust’s Atelier Ryza in its latest gameplay video with New Japan Pro-Wrestling teammates Satoshi Kojima and Hiroyoshi Tenzan.
The NJPW duo aren’t big gamers or familiar with the Atelier series but they sure know how to bring the entertainment nonetheless. Satoshi Kojima says that he stopped playing games after elementary school, so it’s been about 30 years since he last played.
Hiroyoshi Tenzan brought up some old memories of how they used to have a Famicom at the dojo where they trained back in the day. Satoshi Kojima added that it was a baseball game they used to play, and there was a sempai who would reset the game every time he came close to losing.
As for the gameplay, we’re mostly seeing how the game starts out with comments from the two with thoughts on the characters. As expected from the two, they’ve taken a liking to Lent Marslink as they believe he could easily become a pro wrestler. Tenzan points out that he actually used to wear a costume like his back in the day. Satoshi Kojima mistook Tao Mongarten as a girl since he appeared little and cute. Tenzan also called attacks by Tao Mongarten as the “Mongolian Chop.”
Following the battle we get to see how Ryza and friends meet alchemists for the first time when they’re saved by Elmer Vollmer and Lila Decyrus. Afterwards we mostly see gameplay and more silly comments from the two as they gather and craft.
The two shared their thoughts on how entertaining the game was, and it took the entire session for Satoshi Kojima to make the connection that Hiroyoshi Tenzan was wearing those hot shorts which he wore to match Ryza’s.
Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Scarlet Hideout releases for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan on September 26, 2019. The game releases for PS4, Switch, and PC in North America on October 29, 2019 and in Europe on November 1, 2019.
