One of gaming’s greatest tragedies has been remedied. A group of fans going by the name of Team Rocket have translated the third Rocket Slime game and released its first beta patch.

Nintendo 3DS owners with the custom Luma3DS firmware who own a copy of Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime 3 (Slime Mori Mori Dragon Quest 3: Daikaizoku to Shippo Dan) can grab the patch and start playing in English. The project is completely translated and images are almost entirely edited, though the official page for it noted that the localization, hacking, and testing phases aren’t 100% done yet.

Each Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime game stars Rocket, a slime, who must help save slimes and their communities from plights inflicted upon them by other iconic enemies from the series. In this one, it is a Platypunk named Don Clawleone and his minions. They stole the city’s sacred Rainbow Orbs and have used them to cause mayhem. Rocket must head out in a ship to these different spots to fight enemies, save slimes, beat bosses, and retrieve the orbs. When in an area, this means stretching Rocket out and letting him loose so he careens across the screen like a pinball. However, there are also ship battles against pirates where you have Rocket ram into monster allies and items on the boat and pack them into cannons to fire at the enemy ship.

Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime 3 is immediately available on the Nintendo 3DS in Japan. Only one entry was ever released outside of the country. The second game found its way to North America as Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime. The original game, which appeared on the Game Boy Advance, never left Japan.
