Back in April we learned that Sony Interactive Entertainment was planning on ending PSP-3000 repair services sometime soon after ending PS3 (CECH-3000) repairs back on May 31. We now have an end date for the PSP.
SIE announced on the Japanese PlayStation official website that due to a shortage of repair components for fixes the company will end all repair services for the PlayStation Portable (PSP-3000 series) on September 30, 2019.
Those who send in repairs prior to September 30 through the online repair services must make sure to send in their devices to the PlayStation Clinic by October 7, 2019. Those who wish to take their PSP for repairs in person will also have until September 30, 2019 to do so.
Sony apologizes for any inconveniences to the fans who continued cherishing their PlayStation Portables, but ask for understanding and their continued support.
The PlayStation Portable first released in Japan in December 2004. The PSP-3000 model released in October 2008 as an updated model with an added microphone.
