While details regarding Streets of Rage 4 are slim, Lizardcube, Guard Crush Games, and Dotemu have been gradually opening up. Most recently, the people who will be working on its soundtrack have been revealed. Five major composers will be contributing, with the most notable being Yuzo Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima, as both have provided scores for Streets of Rage games before.
Koshiro has been involved with every entry in the series, as he created songs for all three previous Streets of Rage games. He also is known for his work on Nihon Falcom’s Dragon Slayer and Ys series and with Sega’s ActRaiser and Shinobi series. He is also one of Ancient’s founders and is partially responsible for the Gotta Protectors series’ soundtracks. He has worked with Kawashima on game soundtracks many times before, such as on the Streets of Rage series and on The G.G. Shinobi II, Eye of the Beholder, and Amazing Island. Meanwhile, Kawashima is also known for his work on the Sega version of Batman Returns and the soundtracks for some of the Katekyo Hitman Reborn! games.
The other composers working on the Streets of Rage 4 soundtrack are Yoko Shimomura, Hideki Naganuma, and Keiji Yamagishi. Shimomura made soundtracks for and contributed songs to a number of Capcom and Square Enix games, such as Street Fighter II: The World Warrior, Live a Live, Super Mario RPG, Legend of Mana, Parasite Eve, and Kingdom Hearts. Naganuma worked on Jet Set Radio, Jet Set Radio Future, and Sonic Rush. Yamagishi is best known for contributions to Tecmo Bowl, Ninja Gaiden, Tecmo Super Bowl, and Onimusha Tactics.
Here is the official video announcing the involvement of Koshiro, Kawashima, Shimomura, Naganuma, and Yamagishi. Each composer has something to say about the game and opportunity to create music for it.
Update: Yuzo Koshiro has left a message regarding the game and his involvement:
