Earlier today, Koei Tecmo and Gust debuted fifteen minutes of gameplay for Atelier Ryza, showing off town exploration, the new method of conducting alchemy, and more.

The first part of the livestream focuses on the change in graphics, with the team explaining how they focused on bringing out a ‘summer-y’ feeling with the contrast and shadows. Meanwhile, item creation was shown off, such as how ingredients are added into the recipe in a skill tree-like menu that unlocks extra effects as long as you have the prerequisite materials to create that effect. It makes it easier to customize how you want to make that item in particular.

Producer Hosoi explained that as this is the start of a new series, they wanted to make it easier to follow for new players in the series, and for players to look forward to trying it out themselves.

Finally, battles were shown off near the end, and are shown to be much more to the point than before. Players command one active character at a time, with the other characters automatically attacking when it reaches their turn on the battle order. You change active characters with L1.

When active, the character is able to choose from special moves, use items, and more. Action Orders from the other characters will come in on the top left, and if the active character fulfills them, they will help follow up attacks and more.
