We recently learned about Atelier Ryza’s characters Ampel, Bohs, Lumbar, Moritz and a new “Gathering Grounds Synthesis” system. We got a first look at the characters and gathering feature in this week’s issue of Famitsu.
Ampel Vollmer (CV: Hirofumi Nojima)
A wandering alchemist who does research in ancient ruins. He rented a house in Rozenboden village to investigate the nearby area. While he has an abundance of knowledge, due to a certain incident in the past he can no longer perform high-level alchemy.
In Atelier Ryza, Ampel takes on the role of Ryza’s master who teaches her how to use alchemy.
While he no longer has access to his high-end alchemy skills, Ampel is shown participating in battle so we can assume that he’s still talented enough to get around for his research in ancient ruins.
Bohs Brunnen (CV: Yohei Azakami)
The only son of the Brunnen family. He’s arrogant and prideful but has a great deal of political influence. He’s also intellectual.
Lumbar Dorn (CV: Fukushi Ochiai)
Lumbar is a coward who bends over for the powerful. He’s on Bohs’ side and insults Ryza and her friends. However, they say that his loyalty towards Bohs is genuine.
Moritz Brunnern (CV: Ryota Takeuchi)
Bohs’ father. He’s the active facilitator of the village and also works as a merchant. While has has proven results, he has a bad reputation due to the aggressive measures he takes.
Lastly, we got a peek at a new “Gathering Grounds Synthesis” feature, which is a first for the Atelier series. In Atelier Ryza you’ll go around gathering various items to combine and create new items as you’ve done in previous Atelier games, but this time you’ll get to create your own grounds to gather.
As shown in the above screenshots, you can come up with various kinds of gathering areas that are different from the main setting of Kuken Island which is currently in the midst of summer.
Gathering will also see some changes. While out in the fields you can gather items from certain points, from grass and trees, to rocks, and more. Ryza can use a variety of tools such as her staff, axe, sickle, and more to gather items; however, you might get different types of items based on the tools used. For example, if you use a sickle on a tree you get bark instead of wood.
Lastly, check out its new artwork featuring Ryza and Klaudia:
