The latest Animal Crossing game has been revealed as Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and it is set to take place on a deserted island that players will be able to customize to their content.
Additionally, the game has been delayed to further add more polish, from its 2019 release date to March 20, 2020. Check out the trailer below:
New things shown off include the ability to make roads, pluck flowers, cook and craft, vault over rivers, and a phone.
Some additional details revealed via the Nintendo Treehouse livestream:
- You can now move furniture in half-units like in Happy Home Designer.
- Furniture can be placed outdoors, and the furniture and tent can be placed on the beach.
- You can use the Nookphone to check DIY recipes that tell you what materials are needed to make tools and furniture.
- While up to now the game’s seasons have been set to the Northern Hemisphere, New Horizons adds the option to have seasons follow the Southern Hemisphere.
Treehouse also introduced Nook Mileage, which is a new currency in the game which is collected similar to airline mileage programs, where activities you do on the island will let you earn Mileage. The Miles can then be exchanged for items and other activities.
Nintendo also showed off multiplaer, and how you can use an app on the Nookphone to play together with another islander. It’s a whole new way of playing together locally with split Joy-Cons. Four players can play together on one system, but with local wireless and online, there can be up to eight players on the island, as seen at the end of the trailer.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is flying onto the Nintendo Switch in March 2020.
