We were introduced to new Monstrum Bull, Puppet, and Apostate recently, and new screenshots and descriptions of the three allies have been released, including their Monstrum abilities. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]
Here are the highlights below:
Puppet (CV: Aina Suzuki)
“I have no feelings. Because I am a puppet.”
A Monstrum with the look of a finely crafted, professionally made puppet. She has the ability to see things that humans usually can’t see. Even among the Monstrum of Barduke, she is particularly mysterious. She also uses actions and motions seemingly impossible for humans to replicate in battle. It seems that she has reached out to Adol for an unknown purpose.
Bull (CV: Ayane Sakura)
“Right! Alley-oop!”
A Monstrum who’s standout characteristic is her strength. She specializes in fighting brazenly with her giant war hammer. She doesn’t have the criminal record that White Cat and Hawk have, and when the Monstrum argue, she acts as the sensible one who helps them compromise.
Supposedly, she has a blood relative living in the prison city, but this rumor is unverified.
Apostate (CV: Hiro Shimono)
A Monstrum given the name of Apostate thanks to the weird, tattered clothes that look like priest vestments. He’s a pessimistic person who never appears in person, and thus not many people actually know what he looks like.
It seems like he knows something about the Gllia Erdlingen region and the history of Barduke.
Monstrum Abilities
Puppet’s Ability: The Third Eye
An ability that makes things usually unviewable by humans into viewable objects. This can be used on invisible enemies, or to check for hidden passageways and hidden treasure.
Bull’s Ability: Valkyrie Hammer
A charged smash that can even break sturdy rock walls. You can break down both simple stacked stone walls and walls with cracks in them, and forge a new path. Furthermore, it is also good at destroying the guard of certain enemies.
Apostate’s Ability: Shadow Dive
The Monstrum sinks into the ground like a shadow in order to move freely. You can slip through tight gaps in exploration, and enemies will also not notice you during this state, so you can use it to flank them or avoid battle.
Ys IX: Monstrum Nox releases for PlayStation 4 in Japan on September 26, 2019.
