Two more members of the Samurai Shodown cast are showing their fighting prowess in new trailers. One is Haohmaru, who has been with the series since the beginning and is known as one of its main characters. The other is Genjuro Kibagami, who joined the series in Samurai Shodown II and acts as a foil to Haohmaru.
Both Haohmaru and Genjuro were orphans and students of Nicotine Caffeine. They both also were tasked to fight for Fugudoku, Nicotine’s sword. Haohmaru won, and has wielded Fugudoku ever since. While Haohmaru is an honorable ronin, Genjuro has been established as more of a mercenary. He was formally referenced as a hitokiri in some installments.

Samurai Shodown will be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in North America on June 25, 2019 and in Japan on June 27, 2019. It will appear on the Nintendo Switch and PC in Winter 2019.
