Final Fantasy XIV just got its Patch 4.57 update that allows adventurers to visit friends from other worlds of the same datacenter via the World Visit System to party, purchase items, and take on duties.
You can access the World Visit System by simply visiting the Aetherytes in Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks, New Gridania, and Ul’dah – Steps of Nald.
There are occasional waits for your request to be processed, but once the character is ready a window will automatically appear to inform you, similar to a Duty Finder.
The World Visit System allows players to freely travel between worlds in their datacenter.
To give you a better idea, that means Cactuar server from the Aether datacenter can visit Adamantoise, Faerie, Gilgamesh, Jenova, Midgardsormr, Sargatanas, and Siren.
Your characters can travel to other worlds to create parties with friends, trade items, and partake in duties, but there are several features that are only available in the home world.
The following are restricted or limited in some ways while using the World Visit System:
- Moogle Delivery Service
- Retainers
- Markets
- Free Company
- Linkshell
- Other Social Features
- Housing
- Eternal Bond
- Gold Saucer
- Deep Dungeon
- Teleport
- Miner and Botanist
- Others
