After the announcement of God Eater 3 coming to the Switch, God Eater 3 producer Yuya Tomiyama wrote a blog post on the official site, talking about what led to the decision, and what’s in the near future for the game.
According to Tomiyama, many people requested the game come to the Switch even during the initial reveal of the game. Some people cited being able to play the game outside of the TV, and others mentioned how they wanted to play locally with friends, and some others who wanted have a portable experience again. In order to grant these requests, another team from the one which developed the game and the free updates was put to the task of seeing if it was a feasible task.
While it took a long time just to make sure, they became able to announce the Switch port as soon as it became certain it was possible. In terms of content, the game will be the same as the PS4 and Steam versions, so Tomiyama recommends players who haven’t played it yet consider picking the Switch version up.
Furthermore, free updates past ver.1.40 have been confirmed by Bandai Namco. All the upcoming updates will come to every platform God Eater 3 is available on, including the Switch version when it releases. The updates will not be delayed for the Switch version.
While the Tales of Vesperia costumes are exclusive to the Switch version, the PS4 and Steam versions are also getting a free update with a collab costume that hasn’t been announced yet.
Tomiyama ended off by saying that he wants to continue making God Eater 3 an even better title by incorporating suggestions and requests from players.
God Eater 3 is immediately available for the PlayStation 4 and PC. The Nintendo Switch version will be released on July 12, 2019.
