Bandai Namco held a livestream for the Super Robot Wars series yesterday, with Super Robot Wars DD getting some spotlight alongside Super Robot Wars T, which releases this week. During the livestream, new gameplay was shown off, and how world switching works was detailed.
As previously mentioned, story chapters are separated by the four different worlds, and each chapter has five checkpoints to go through. The beginning and ending are story events, while there are usually three “segments” of a stage to go through.
For now, it seems that there will be no story interactions between the four worlds. However, Bandai Namco confirmed that you will be able to take units acquired in other worlds into the stages.
Speaking of switching worlds, that is easily done in the Story menu, but it’s recommended that you finish a story chapter first, as you lose progress if you’re in the middle of a story chapter when switching worlds.
Finally, gameplay was shown off for the second chapters of World 1 and World 3, featuring Full Metal Panic! and Combattler V. You can check out the gameplay in the segment below (starts at 9:13 mark):
Super Robot Wars DD is set to launch for iOS and Android in Summer 2019. The game is still undergoing some tweaks, and if needed, they will delay it to Fall 2019.
