During the SXSW panel for Sonic the Hedgehog, Sega’s Takashi Iizuka confirmed at the very end that the next Sonic game is in development. Furthermore, new footage showing off how you can customize your vehicle, and a returning course in Team Sonic Racing was shown off.
For the next Sonic game, no details were given on whether it will be a 3D or 2D title. More details are to be announced in the future.

Team Sonic Racing releases for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on May 21, 2019. Check out the Hidden Volcano course in our previous post here. The new mainline Sonic the Hedgehog title is currently in development.
