After a long delay, something people might have forgotten about is happening. Limited Run Games is releasing Axiom Verge Wii U physical copies. On March 29, 2019, they will go up for sale. People can queue up to buy it at 7am PT/9am CT/10am ET at the official website.

When people get an Axiom Verge physical copy, they will get the Wii U version of the game on a disc, a 16-track soundtrack CD, a 32-page art book, and a double-sided poster that has a full map on one side and art from the game on the other. A price for the game has not yet been announced.

Limited Run Games also offered details about the troubled road to get the Axiom Verge Wii U physical copies made. It noted on Twitter, “We won’t come anywhere close to breaking even on this project after the money our former partner took from us – but we hope Wii U fans will appreciate the chance to own one of the best indie games physically for the platform!” Thomas Happ and Daniel Adelman worked with Limited Run Games to make it happen, and over $120,000 has been spent to bring the physical copies to players.

Limited Run Games also told the story to GamesIndustry.biz, noting that, Limited Run Games paid BadLand Games $78,000 for 6,000 Wii U copies of the game in the hopes of the games getting delivered for a November 2017 release. BadLand Games delayed that to January 2018, then Nintendo’s verification lot check to determine if it should get an Everyone 10+ or Teen rating pushed it back. Josh Fairhurst, the CEO of Limited Run Games, then sent multiple emails to BadLand Games requesting a direct refund or $78,000 worth of Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 or PlayStation Vita copies of the game. BadLand Games CEO Luis Quintans initially responded, saying it would come through on the copies of the game. That didn’t happen. Fairhurst ended up filing a lawsuit in October 2018, at which point Quintans responded to say that BadLand Games had closed and Thomas Happ was now able to publish the game. Quintans said the company’s silence was due to try to recover and prepare to repay its debts.

A default judgment was rendered for Limited Run Games on December 4, 2018. It ordered BadLand Games to repay $78,000 from the original deal hat went awry and the $3,675.63 Limited Run Games’ legal fees and interest. In the GamesIndustry.biz piece, Quintans said BadLand intends to repay Limited Run Games.

Axiom Verge is immediately available for the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Wii U, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, and PC.
