Ys IX Shares A Closer Look At Three New Playable Characters And Prison City Setting

We got some teasers earlier today for Ys IX in the latest issue of Dengeki PlayStation, and now have a closer look with images from the magazine showing three new playable characters and more of its setting.

Here’s a look at one of the playable characters, the dual-wielding one we saw earlier fighting a swarm of bats. We see him taking on a boss-like monster you’d expect from an Ys game.

Here’s a girl who was previously described as a nekomimi (cat ears). She has pink fur and a tail to go with it. Upon closer inspection, she’s actually the same character we’ve seen in one of the first screenshots.

 

According to the magazine tidbit, dungeons in the game will be made more three-dimensional than any of the past entries, with extreme height on some maps to give it more of an adventurous field while exploring the map.

The above is a look at some artwork showing Barduke, a giant city known as “Prison City” located in the northeastern part of Esteria in the Gllia Erdlingen region.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox releases for PlayStation 4 in Japan in 2019. New footage is expected to be revealed during the Dengeki Game Festival 2019 on March 24.
