It looked like Spike Chunsoft was teasing a new Shiren the Wanderer game to announce and today it was made official with Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer for smartphones.
Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer originally released for the Super Famicom in 1995 and it’s been ported to various platforms including a Nintendo DS version, which this new smartphone version is based on.
The randomly-generated maps gives it a new feel each time you run a dungeon, and you’ll also meet all kinds of characters on the journey including some that will fight by your side. By visiting villages and towns you can recover health and purchase items.
In addition to system adjustments, the new smartphone version adds new dungeons, monsters, and items. There’s a new password-type helper system as well.
Here’s some new character art:
Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer is expected to release in the near future in Japan for iOS and Android. It’ll go for 1,800 yen.
