The next Nintendo Switch Online update’s games have been announced. On February 14, 2019, the NES games Kirby’s Adventure and Super Mario Bros. 2 will be available worldwide. In addition, Japan will be getting Tsuppari Oozumou. The company did not note if any SP versions of games will also be a part of the update.
Kirby’s Adventure first appeared on the NES in 1993. It added one of Kirby’s most notable skills to his repertoire, the copy ability. For the first time, he could swallow certain enemies to steal their abilities and use them as his own, giving him 20 different sorts of special skills.
Super Mario Bros. 2 originally appeared in Japan as Yume Kojo: Doki Doki Panic, being turned into a Super Mario Bros. game for international audiences. The actual Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, was not released outside of Japan until later. In this installment, people can play as Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad, each with their own special traits, as they go to defeat Wart and his minions.
Tsuppari Oozumou is a sumo game that appeared on the Famicom in Japan in 1987. It is a rudimentary sort of fighting simulation. It also recently appear on the Japanese version of the NES Classic Edition.
Here is the Japanese trailer showing off all three games.
Nintendo Switch Online is available for the Nintendo Switch. If you buy a subscription in one region, say North America or Europe, you would also be able to download and play the Japanese version of the app and play its exclusive NES titles.
