Back in December 2018, people started getting worried about Kingdom Hearts III spoilers and leaks, due to copies of the game circulating ahead of release. Tetsuya Nomura, the game’s director, released a statement saying the Kingdom Hearts III epilogue and secret movie were being patched into the game after specifically to avoid these sorts of leaks. Now, the official website and Twitter account have announced the release schedule for the updates that will add these extras to the game.
Kingdom Hearts III launches in Japan ahead of the worldwide release on January 25, 2019. That’s when update 1.01 will be released for that version of the game and add the Memory Archive feature that offers information on past games and the story so far. On January 26, 2019 in Japan, the epilogue will be added. The Japanese secret video update will be the final piece of the puzzle and arrive on January 31, 2019.
Since the worldwide launch of Kingdom Hearts III is January 29, 2019, its update schedule is a little different. The 1.01 Memory Archive will be released on launch day. On January 30, 2019, the epilogue will be added to the versions released outside of Japan. Finally, on January 31, 2019, the secret video will be added.
Kingdom Hearts III will be heading to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this month. It will make its Japanese debut on January 25, 2019, followed by a worldwide release on January 29, 2019.
