In the latest issue of Famitsu, God Eater 3’s general director from Bandai Namco, Hiroshi Yoshimura, explained why Marvelous Games was brought in to develop God Eater 3.

Check out the highlights below:

This time Marvelous was the development partner. What led to this?

Ittetsu Suzuki, Marvelous GE3 development director: “One of the games I had a hand in developing had a crossover with God Eater, so I’ve known Bandai Namco since way back. Using this familiarity, I asked if they’d let us develop something for them, which ended up being the general spark that led to this.”

Hiroshi Yoshimura, GE series general director: “For God Eater 3, we thought that we didn’t want to build on what had come before, and instead develop things from the very beginning. By listening to player requests, the God Eater series can continue to evolve, but on the flip side, this meant features were becoming too needlessly complex. We felt a danger that the God Eater series might stop evolving if it went on like this.

“Then lets bring in a breath of fresh air!”, we thought. In a sense, it was a gamble, but we decided on Marvelous, who had design senses we didn’t have, in order to create a completely-new God Eater game.”

God Eater 3 is now available in Japan for the PlayStation 4. The game will be released in North America and Europe on the PlayStation 4 and PC on February 8, 2019.
