The Dreams beta is something Media Molecule has been promising PlayStation 4 owners for a while. It first was supposed to appear in 2016, before being delayed until 2017. When it didn’t show up in 2017, a 2018 window was promised. Now, we have an actual release date! The Dreams beta will begin on December 19, 2018 for some people.
The Dreams beta date was revealed on what was billed as a Totally Normal Dreams stream on December 18, 2018. It will run from December 19, 2018 through January 21, 2019 for members of the Media Molecule newsletter who receive an invite code and agree to sign a confidentiality agreement. Once people get in, they will be able to download a 4GB beta and begin testing out the game. No PlayStation Plus membership will be required to participate. Also, it will not work with the PlayStation VR, though the full game will support the peripheral.
A means for other people to get into the Dreams beta has been announced. On January 8, 2019, Media Molecule will open general signups. People will then be able to submit their name for a chance to test out the game.
Dreams is in development for the PlayStation 4 and will be compatible with the PlayStation VR.
