The first Detective Pikachu trailer has hit the internet. Ryan Reynolds, the voice of Detective Pikachu, posted the first peek of the movie on his account today. It primarily focuses on Tim Goodman, played by Justice Smith, showing him as he meets Detective Pikachu for the first time and the duo begins to investigate the disappearance of Goodman’s father.

What may surprise people is that a more realistic approach is taken with the CG Pokemon. Characters like Pikachu, Mr. Mime, Charizard, and Jigglypuff may look a bit different than viewers might expect.

Take a look at the footage below.

Detective Pikachu currently has a May 10, 2019 release window. Other members of the cast include Ken Watanabe as Detective Yoshida and Kathryn Newton as Lucy. The Detective Pikachu game is immediately available for the Nintendo 3DS.
