Sony shared its Q2 FY2018 Consolidated Financial Results today where we got a look at the latest update in PlayStation 4 hardware shipments which have now reached 86.1 million worldwide as of September 30, 2018.
The PlayStation 4 has sold 3.9 million units in this fiscal year’s second quarter. That’s less than last fiscal year’s second quarter of 4.2 million.
In the previous quarter, we got the update of 82.2 million. With the added 3.9 million from the second quarter, the PlayStation 4 now sits at 86.1 million units sold worldwide.
The chart also shows that the forecast has seen a change of an 8% upward revision in sales thanks to increase in game software sales, impact of foreign exchange rates, increase in PS4 hardware unit sales, and increase in sales of PS Plus that went from 33.9 million last quarter to 34.3 million in the second, which was an overall increase of about 6.2 million from the year prior.
The PlayStation 4 first released in November 2013 in North America and Europe, followed by a Japanese launch in February 2014.
